7mm rem mag
« on: September 14, 2012, 02:01:12 PM »

Hello all. I've had my Tikka T3 lite in 7mm rem mag for about 4 years now. I had a load that shot decent about 1/2". But the past month I started chasing more accuracy to extend my ranges. I found one.

This was a 4 shot group during load testing

Loaded some more up change my scope roughly zeroed it last week took it out today and shot this 3 shot group. Made my adjustment real easy. ;)

I'm very impressed by this rifles accuracy I had cotemplated semi customizing with a new barrel and stock but if it keeps shooting like this there's no need.

Nice!  Have you tried the Berger VLD bullets at all?  How far are you seated off the lands?

That looks like a great load for you.  How does it shoot at 200 and 300 yards.  Do you ever hunt out that far.

I shot 1 6 shot group at 300 with that load, it was about 1 MOA. I was expecting a little better but I think i rushed it a little cuz the wind was picking up.

Yes I will hunt at range. Last year my furthest was 550 on an antelope not with this gun but with my .243.

My preference however is "OH shit! not enough time to cycle one in the chamber, better stab it with the knife." ;D

I have not tried Berger in this one. At one time I did know how far off the lands I was with the sierra I use to use and I bielieve I was pretty close. The Amax is loaded to full mag length.

I use Berger 87gn vld's in my .243. I tried a 140gn in my sons 7mm-08, didn't work so good.
