t3 lite vs super lite
« on: January 09, 2012, 03:13:15 AM »

I'm in the process of buying  a new light-weight sheep/ mt goat gun.  I've decided on going with the 270 wsm.  I was planning on getting a t3 lite SS but I have recently heard about the super lite.  I can't find any information about the super lite at all.  Can somebody tell where I can find information on them (calibers, where I can purchase one, weight)  I really like the looks of the fluted barrel and I assume the fluted barrel would help cool the barrel quicker?  I live in anchorage AK but I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan so I can't just run down to the local gun store.

Thanks for the help.

I thought I'd get instant feed back on this forum >:(.

Anyway I emailed sportsmans WH and this is the responce I got.

Addressing your email, the T3 vs. the T3 super lite, is that the SL has a fluted barrel. Weights are as follows T3 SS are 6.34lbs. and the T3 SS SL are 5.94-6.12lbs, this includes the rings that come with all the Tikka's. Calibers are as follows: T3,243,270,308,30.06,300win,7mm,270wsm,300wsm.
T3 SL 223,22-250,308,30.06,7mm,300win mag. The Super Lite models are an exclusive line of products to Sportsman's Warehouse. We currently have these models in stock and pricing are as follows: T3 SS are $619.99 and T3 SS SL are $699.99. I hope this helps you out in your decision of which Tikka to purchase at Sportsman's Warehouse.

I was hoping I could get the Tikka SS SL in 270wsm but I guess not.

I am sorry you're upset that you didn't get an instant answer to your question.

There is no data published anywhere about the super light and Sportmans Whorehouse is not very well established in the US market. Since they are based in Canada, they get much better Tikka stuff than the states.

No worries, I'm not really upset.  It's just been frustrating trying to track down information.  I'm currently in Afghanistan so I can't go to gun shops and our internet is slooooow.

Thank you for serving!

A super lite with our ultra lite stock would be a great mountain rifle. On average our ultra lite is 6 ounces lighter than the factory stock.

I used one on my 270wsm all season and love it!

It handles recoil so well I'm going to put my 338wm in one.

Sorry Friend, but this isn't exactly an instant feedback forum. ;D

The standard T-3 Lite will do every thing you need. I'm sure you'll be happy with one. Good luck on your hunt, and hang tight over there.

Glad you posted this!  I just sold my custom Rem 700 in 260, and with the money I got from that I purchased a couple T3's.  Ordered up a Blued T3 lite in 223 and also a SL in 7 rem mag.  Cant wait till they come in, then I can wait my 10 days to pick them up, gotta love California!
